217. A Diamond in the Rough

In late 2006 I was searching for a new artist to add to my collection of extraordinary acoustic/alternative songs that I wish I had written. I stumbled across a man named Jason Reeves and checked out his music. At the time, he was relatively unknown. His music was crazy amazing and caught my ear instantaneously. Through him I was able to find other wonderful artists such as Colbie Caillat (before she became mainstream) and enjoyed their music as underground independent artists. I wrote Jason a few times expressing my thanks and appreciation for his unique writing stylings as well as ability to hit home with so many of the songs he had written. He was gracious enough to respond every single time and encourage me to continue listening as he was pursuing his dreams and being thankful for every single minute of it. If you've ever ridden in a car with me, you know that Jason Reeves appears on numerous cds that I own and I will emphatically express my love for his music for hours on end to you. Today in the midst of my work I came across this video. Kara DioGuardi is amazing and influential and for her to recognize Jason as a key player in the upcoming music industry means everything.
